Everquest Housing - Quests: Sunrise Hills

I've been looking for more quests with housing items and big bags. The series of quests from Sunrise Hills provide both as well as a few other rewards as well.

These are all old-style quests that won't appear in your quest journal and some require you to 'say' specific unhighlighted text to start them. (tip: You can copy the sentence then use Ctl+V in a chat window in-game to paste it instead of typing it out.)

This is not a proper full walkthrough, you can find those on the linked pages, but it will give you the do this, go there without the rest of the flavour. I've also tried to combine trips to various places to avoid too much boomeranging.

Since the first quest is a series of mail delivery quests that will have you running all over Norrath, round 1 includes quests in the same places, some of which are needed to finish other Sunrise Hills quests.

Tip: You can copy and paste the keywords or sentences to avoid typing. Copy from your browser then use CTL+V in the game chat window. You can even set them up as macros if you have to wait for the starting bard to get off the stage.

Caution: There is an extra challenge for evil races since many of the locations are either "good" or neutral. I ran my level 68 Teir'dal Shadowknight through for the evil race notes. If you're an evil race, you will need to be able to make yourself invisible to get around some of the guards. A 'good race' illusion might also help. You do get faction improvements with the mail deliveries, so they might help, too.

Starting the Quests

The Postmaster's Challenge opens up the ability to do other quests from Sunrise Hills. Postmaster Aric is outside the vendor hut in any of the Sunshine Hills housing neighbourhoods. One of the songs he sings is about his beloved league of bards. So... when he's not on the stage singing, say to him "Who are the League of Antonican Bards?" He'll respond with information about the league with the keyword "challenge" highlighted. Click on the word or say "challenge". This will flag you for the quest.

Go inside the hut and find the Pagus Nonad, the taxman, say to him, "Tell me about your brother", to start The Nonad Brothers quest. This quest is needed before Round 2, too, and to finish round 1.

While you're at it, you might as well start A Curious Box, too. Use the map find to locate Gebsle Nogflop. I found him a little ways from the vendor hut, kind of hiding in a stand of bushes but he does wander. He also sells a variety of house pets, so you might want to come back to him later. Say to him, "Who is Kimble?" to start that quest. This one appears to be independent.

When you're in South Qeynos the second time to deliver mail, you can also do Aenia and Behroe for an item to complete one of the Sunrise Hills quests. A good point to do the quest is noted below.

When you're in Kelethin to deliver and pick up mail, you may be able to start the Fifth Nybright Sister though, for unknown reasons, it can sometimes be hard to start.

Postmaster's Challenge

You need to deliver 18 pieces of mail as part of 18 small quests: Going Postal. After you've picked up and delivered all 18 pieces of mail, you will have completed the challenge. You can pick up more than one piece of mail at a time so you can group the pickups and deliveries to reduce the running around. There are four locations for delivery (Qeynos, Kelethin, Freeport, and High Keep) with 16 spots to pickup.

Pickups all start with saying "interested" (highlighted if you hail the person).

For the least amount of running around, starting in Plane of Knowledge and using the books for most travel. *Evil races will need invisibility or sneak.

  • Pick up the mail for Qeynos:
    • Erudin* - Ticar Lorestring near the porter to Erudin Palace (if you have a guild hall, you can also use the guild teleporter to Toxullia)
    • Halas* - Marton Stringsinger inside the building by the Priest of Discord (evil race: caution, level 40 guildmaster might attack you when you drop invisibility to hail Marton)
    • Surefall Glade* - Sivina Lutewhisper in the main building (evil race: level 70 ranger, tuck in behind Sivina before dropping invisibility)
    • West Karana - Mistrana Two Notes, on the Qeynos Hills side of the zone by the river in one of the houses. (evil race: outside the house, a wandering level 30 fisherman took offence to my SK)
  • Deliver to South Qeynos* - Tralyn Marsinger at the bard guild house (you can deliver all 4 at the same time)
  • Pick up from South Qeynos for High Keep- Eve Marsinger right next to Tralyn
  • While you're in South Qeynos, look for Vicus Nonad and hand him the tonic for the Nonad Brothers quest then run around the Qeynos for the tax collection quest Vicus wants you to do. (see below)
  • Pick up the mail for Freeport:
    • Rivervale* - Silna Songsmith (evil race: there's a level 37 guard next to the bard)
    • Innuthule Swamp - Dark Deathsinger, southwest corner
    • Feerrott - Drizda Tunesinger, close to Innuthule zone
    • Nektulos - Travis Two Tone
  • Deliver to East Freeport - Felisity Starbright in the bard guild house (evil race: in West Freeport, beware the knights)
  • Pick up from East Freeport for Kelethin and High Keep - Ton Twostring, upstairs from Felisity
  • Pick up the mail for Kelethin:
    • Butcheblock* - Siltria Marwind at the docks - you can get there from the Freeport dock via trasporter to Ocean of Tears then transporter to Butcherblock. (evil race: invis before leaving the docks)
    • Kaladim* - Kilam Oresinger
    • Ak'anon - Lyra Lyrestringer
      • While you're in Ak'anon, go to the zoo to find Kimble Nogflop for A Curious Box. (see below) (tall race: a shrink potion would be really handy to get into the zoo without crouching)
    • Felwithe* - Tacar Tissleplay across the bridge down the the right passage
  • Deliver to Kelethin* - Jakum Webdancer and Idia beside him. (Idia gets the big bag, Jakum gets the letters)
  • Pick up from Kelethin to Freeport - Idia
  • Deliver to High Keep (use the Crescent Reach PoK stone to enter High Pass* from Blightfire Moors) - Lislia Goldtune is just inside High Keep
  • Pick up from High Keep to Freeport and Qeynos: Lislia Goldtune
  • Deliver to East Freeport: Ton Twostring and Felisity Starbright
  • Deliver to South Qeynos* - Eve Marsinger
  • While you're in South Qeynos, look for Behroe Dlexon (or Behrow) to do the Aenia and Behroe quest (see below). Leaving this to last so your faction with the bards will be improved by the mail deliveries. (Note: Behroe only shows up during the day, game time. Hail Behroe to start the quest.
  • Return to Sunrise Hills and Hail Postmaster Aric to finish his quest. This will allow you to continue with round 2.
  • Hail Pagus and give Gebsle the tonic from Kimble to finish those quests.

The Nonad Brothers

As noted above, start this quest in Sunrise Hills by saying "Tell me about your brother" to Pagus Nonad.

While you're in South Qeynos delivering mail, give the tonic Pagus gave you to Vicus Nonad. If you follow his dialogue, he'll ask you to do a series of tax collections (Taxes) in South and North Qeynos and Qeynos Hills. After doing his quest, when you return to Postmaster Aric, hail Pagus to finish the quest.

Put the box into an empty inventory slot so it can be a container.  Place each coin you receive into the box.

Target each of the merchants and say "I'm here about your tax collection."

  • South Qeynos
    • Ton Firepride
    • Mar Sedder
    • Nesiff Tallaherd
    • Fhara Semhart
    • Tasya Huntlan
    • Captain Rohand
    • Fish Ranamer
    • Voleen Tassen
  • North Qeynos
    • Sneed Galliway - Sneed might want some help with rodents, first.
  • Qeynos Hills
    • Mira Sayer
      • After attempting to collect her taxes, say "sobs uncontrollably"
      • Return to North Qeynos and hail Flynn Merrington.
      • Say "Did you steal Mira Sayer's taxes?"
      • Say "I am a gnoll loving weakling who isn't fit to comb my feet"
  • Combine on the box and return it and the list to Vicus.
Evil race: If he won't give you the box try saying the full sentence, "I am here to help with the collections" (I was also using a wood elf illusion). You may need to use the illusion of a good race to do the final hand-in to finish the quest.  While the guards in South Qeynos were dubious, the ones in North Qeynos were threatening, so invisibility was still helpful, too.

A Curious Box

Start the quest in Sunrise Hills by saying "Who is Kimble?" to Gebsle Nogflop.

While you're in Ak'anon picking up the mail, go to the zoo there to see Kimble Nogflop. Say to him, "This is for Gebsle." Take the tonic back to Gebsle when you're done delivering mail and are returning to Postmaster Aric.

The Fifth Nybright Sister

  1. In Kelethin, find Merchant Tananie and wait near her until you see "a drunkard" (easier than trying to find the other places he wanders). Target the drunkard and say, "Who is Claire?" If he responds to you, say, "Who is Mayla?" He may or may not respond to you. (When I did this on a mid-20s character, he insisted on giving the responses for his other quest for killing the sisters.)
  2. Go to Lesser Faydark, to the Nybright sisters. Target Kayla and say "Who is Claire?" After she responds, say, "Who is Mayla?" After she responds, she and her sisters will attack you. Don't kill them, feign death or evac or just run away if you can (Mistmore zone line is close by). Return and target Shayla. Repeat the two questions. She may only shake her head and not say anything. They may attack you again, don't kill them. (If you kill the sisters, you may need to redo this step.)
  3. In Sunrise Hills. Target Claire Nybright and say, "Who is Tandan Nybright?" after she responds, say, "Are you Mayla Nybright?" She'll respond and give you an Armored Orcakar Figurine. You'll need this later.

Aenia and Behroe

Behroe shows up in the South Qeynos dock area in the day (game time). Hail him then say, What ballad? to start the quest. You will need to be amiable or nearly with Antonica Bards, so do all the mail deliveries first.

Find Aenia in North Qeynos and say "boyfriend". Then read her the poem, "Oh beautiful thornless rose, growing in the briar patch. Oh glistening crimson rose, you would be such a catch. Oh beautiful thornless rose, your essence has no match. Oh glistening crimson rose, your love I must snatch."

Return to Behroe in South Qeynos and give him just the letter. Keep the poem you'll need it for Arwik.

A Poem for Arwik

Hail Arwik Nimbletoon then give her the poem from Behroe.

Courier of Favor

When you have completed the Postmaster's Challenge and The Nonad Brothers, hail Lysric Loresinger to complete the Courier of Favor. If you haven't finished the Taxes quest from Vicus to complete The Nonad Brothers, you won't receive the bag and the bag is really the best part.

The Favor of the Orcakar Players

When you have completed the Postmaster's Challenge, Hail Celtreus Arwell to start the next quest, The Favor of the Orcakar Players. Put the reward from Claire Nybright, the Orcakar Figurine, in your primary weapon slot and hail him again to finish the quest. (You can put the figure in your primary slot and just hail him once to get the reward and complete the quest.)

Rewards

Postmaster Aric's Challenge

Completing the challenge will give you a new title and let you do some of the other quests.

Nonad Brothers

Completing Pagus's quest will give you a placeable shield and "action figure". It will also allow you to finish Courier of Favor and get the big bag.

Action Lashun cannot be resized when you place him (and is quite small)but does have various actions if you click on him. "Cease this endless conflict" will stop and start the Qeynos theme music (you need music on to hear it and only the one who triggered it can hear it).

Curious Box

The reward is a froglok pet for inside the house or hall with a special trick.

Courier of Favor

The reward is am Antonica bard parcles NPC you can put in your house or guild hall AND a 20-slot bag with 100% weight reduction (making the run around all over quests worth it, in my opinion).

Note: If all you want is the big bag for the other characters on your account (on the server), once you have completed this quest round, put the bag in a shared bank slot, switch to another character, remove it from the shared bank, go back to the character that ran the quest, and hail Lysric. You can repeat this until all the characters have the bag.

A Poem for Arwik

The reward is a device you can use to alter the appearance of the guildhall "friendly" NPCs (banker, general supplies, transporter, tribute, etc.). This only works with those specific NPCs and only in the guildhall if you have place permissions. You can modify race, attire, and other characteristics. Target yourself or nothing to activate and change the mode. Target the NPC when you're on the mode you want to cycle through the options.

The Fifth Nybright Sister

The reward is a placeable Orcakar Figurine.

Favor of the Orcakar Players

The reward is an illusion of a "Daft Trickster." The illusion can be triggered from a bag.
